Rookie of the Month: Victor Boniface battles RB Leipzig, Hoffenheim stars for September’s best young player award

The Nigeria international has been exceptional for both club and country since his move from Belgium to Germany in the summer.
Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface is celebrating Bundesliga month in September. Soccernet.ng reported that he was nominated for the Most Valuable Player award. Boniface received the prestigious award in August after an excellent first month in the German top flight. The Nigerian striker scored three goals and provided two assists, beating RB Leipzig youngster Xavi Simons and SC Freiburg goalkeeper Noah Atbolu.
Boniface’s talent led him to be named Bundesliga Player of the Month for August, ahead of Bayern Munich striker and fellow German player Harry Kane. The super Eagles striker hasn’t taken his foot off the pedal as he put in some great performances in September. The 22-year-old striker scored four more goals and added an assist, putting him back in contention for Rookie of the Month.
Boniface scored two goals and provided an assist when Bayer Leverkusen defeated Darmstadt on September 2. The former Union Saint Giroise striker put in an impressive performance as Bayer Leverkusen held Bayern Munich to a 2-2 draw at the Allianz Arena.
On 24 September, Boniface scored another two goals as Leverkusen defeated FC Heidenheim 4-1.
Boniface is once again the favorite to win the title, but faces stiff competition from exciting RB Leipzig young player Xavi Simons and TSG Hoffenheim. Opponent’s ace Maximilian Beyer.
