Report: Why Emmanuel Dennis could not join Onuachu at Trabzonspor

Emmanuel Dennis was unpopular with Steve Cooper’s team after his transfer in the summer of 2022 and was forced to move on loan to Istanbul Basaksehir

Super Eagles striker Emmanuel Dennis is among the Nigerian players who were actively switching clubs during the 2023 summer transfer window, reports Soccernet.ng.

Dennis, who joined Nottingham Forest from Watford FC in the summer of 2022, has struggled to perform and has fallen out of favor with Steve Cooper’s side as a result.

Dennis had been on loan from England to Istanbul Basaksehir for a season, but there were rumors that he had moved to Trabzonspor, where he played alongside compatriot Paul Onuachu, also on loan from Southampton.

According to Turkish media reports, Black Sea Storm are keen to sign the Nigerian striker and there is a verbal agreement between the club and the former Club Brugge player.

However, the potential return of 33-year-old Bosnian striker Edin Vizca to Başaksehir would have created space for Trabzonspor to pursue Denis, but there is no contractual agreement between Vizca and the team. Therefore, it did not materialize. This prevented Denis from joining Trabzonspor on loan.

At the same time, Trabzonspor managed to sign Onuaçu on a season-long loan and he performed well in the Super Lig, unlike Denis who slowed down in Istanbul.
