Report: Chelsea secure secret agreement to sign Super Eagles’ Victor Osimhen ahead of 2024 transfer window

Victor Osimhen has scored 31 goals in all competitions in season with Napoli and has been selected as one of 30 nominees for the 2023 Ballon d’Or award. I got it /p>

Premier League side Chelsea are reportedly at the forefront of the race to sign Victor Osimhen from Napoli, with Soccernet.ng reporting that a deal may already have been agreed.

The 24-year-old was perhaps the most anticipated striker in the recently concluded summer transfer window, but Napoli stood firm and kept the centre-forward.

However, interest from other clubs in the Nigerian striker is not going away anytime soon.

Osimhen has had a great year and was recently named among the 30 shortlists for the 2023 Ballon d’Or award after winning the title with Napoli last season.

His 26 goals helped Napoli win a rare Serie A title last season, making him one of the most highly rated strikers in the world.

Chelsea have reportedly decided to make Osimhen their top target in the summer of 2024.

They are currently said to be leading the race to sign him, ahead of rivals such as Arsenal, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain.

Reports even suggest they may have already agreed a deal with Osimhen, which is why, according to Team Talk, they are happy with Nicholas Jackson taking over this summer. It is said that

Centre forward has been a problematic position for Chelsea for some time. Players like Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner have proven themselves elsewhere, but they have struggled to replicate that talent at Stamford Bridge in recent years.

This season, Mauricio Pochettino can choose between Jackson and Armando Broja as his main options at centre-forward. He also has one new addition, David, who he also has in Washington.

Christopher Nkunku was also brought in from RB Leipzig in the summer to add a new element to the attack, but he subsequently suffered an injury.

Depending on his performances this season, Chelsea could be in a good position to give Osimhen the next step and get his first taste of Premier League football.

The former Lille striker has started the season where he left off last year, scoring three goals in the three games he has played so far.

Osimhen also scored a hat-trick to help Nigeria win 6-0 against Sao Tome and Principe in the final African Cup of Nations qualifier in Uyo last Sunday.
