Rafael Nadal announces official comeback date for 2024
Rafael Nadal has confirmed he will make his long-awaited return at next month’s Brisbane International as he prepares for his final year on the ATP Tour.
Nadal has been out of action since January when he injured his psoas muscle in his loss to Mackenzie McDonald in the second round of the Australian Open.

As a result, the Spaniard missed Roland Garros for the first time since 2004 and underwent arthroscopic surgery in June.
Nadal has been working on his recovery since then and recently released video footage of him returning to the practice court.
And the 22-time Grand Slam champion announced in a video on social media that he will return to kick off the year at the ATP 250 event in Brisbane.

“I think it’s the best time to come back after a year off the tour,” Nadal said. “That’s why we feel ready to announce that we will be returning to Brisbane in the first week of the season.”
Not only is it Nadal’s return, but it is also the first time the Brisbane International has been held since 2019, when Kei Nishikori won the title.
The 2024 edition of the Brisbane tournament begins on Sunday 31 December, with Nadal joined by players such as Holger Ruhn, Grigor Dimitrov, Andy Murray and Ben Shelton.

The official confirmation of Nadal’s return brings great joy to tennis and sports fans around the world who are hoping to see the Spaniard deliver his greatest hits Down Under Probably. Nadal will likely only play in his only warm-up tournament in Brisbane before moving to Melbourne for the Australian Open, which is actually where he suffered his first injury.
