Punjab Kings Playing 11 (PBKS Playing XI) & Sunrisers Hyderabad Playing 11 (SRH Playing XI), IPL 2024, Match 23: Punjab Kings will be taking on Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 23rd game of the ongoing IPL 2024. The PBKS vs SRH game is scheduled to be played at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur, Chandigarh on Tuesday (April 9).
PBKS and SRH will be eyeing another win after winning their last games. Both the teams have two wins and two losses so far and will be desperate to string together a series of wins in order to bolster their chances of qualifying for the playoffs. And before the game gets underway, we take a look at the probable playing elevens of both the teams.
PBKS Playing XI:
Openers: Shikhar Dhawan(c), Jonny Bairstow
While Shikhar Dhawan is PBKS’ leading run-scorer in IPL 2024 so far, he failed to get going in the last game against GT and was out for just 1. The PBKS skipper will be looking to bounce back while his opening partner Jonny Bairstow got another start and was out for 22.
Middle-order batters and allrounders: Jitesh Sharma(w), Prabhsimran Singh, Sam Curran, Shashank Singh, Sikandar Raza
PBKS’ middle-order batters will be eyeing a good show after failing to do well with the bat in the last game. Barring Shashank Singh, who starred with a match-winning unbeaten fifty, no other middle-order batter could make a big impact with the bat.
Prabhsimran Singh got the start and scored 35 but got out at a wrong time. The likes of Sam Curran (5), Sikandar Raza (15) and Jitesh Sharma (16) failed to contribute much with the bat.
Bowlers: Harpreet Brar, Harshal Patel, Kagiso Rabada, Arshdeep Singh
Among the bowlers, Kagiso Rabada picked up two wickets against GT but conceded 44 runs. Harpreet Brar gave away 33 runs and picked up 1 wicket while Arshdeep Singh went wicketless. Harshal Patel picked up 1 wicket for 44 runs.
SRH Playing XI:
Openers: Abhishek Sharma Travis Head
Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head are set to open the innings for SRH against PBKS. In the last game, Sharma all but sealed the game in the powerplay itself by smashing 37 runs off just 12 balls. Head, on the other hand, scored 31 runs.
Middle-order batters and allrounders: Aiden Markram, Heinrich Klaasen(w), Abdul Samad, Nitish Reddy, Shahbaz Ahmed
Aiden Markram continued his run-filled start to the season and scored his first fifty of the competition in the last game while Shahbaz Ahmed scored 18. Heinrich Klaasen and Nitish Reddy remained unbeaten on 10 and 14 respectively while Abdul Samad did not get the chance to bat. Shahbaz picked up a wicket as well.
Bowlers: Pat Cummins(c), Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mayank Markande, T Natarajan
Pat Cummins, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and T Natarajan picked up one wicket each while Mayank Markande went wicketless. Jaydev Unadkat is likely to be a part of the playing eleven when bowling and could replace Travis Head who was used as an impact player in the last game.
