Premier League: Fulham’s boss Silva talks up ex-Everton man Iwobi’s debut display in Luton Town win

Fulham manager Marco Silva praised Alex Iwobi’s contribution in the club’s narrow 1-0 win against Luton Town on Saturday, Soccernet.ng reports.

Iwobi, who moved from Everton to Fulham this summer, made his debut against Craven Cottage when Carlos Vinicius came on as a substitute in the second half and scored all three goals for Cottage.

Luton Town did a great job of keeping Fulham’s attack at bay for around an hour before Whites manager Silva brought on Vinicius and Iwobi in the 62nd minute.

Three minutes later, after some good preparation work from former Chelsea player Willian, the Brazilian striker successfully moved into the danger zone.

Iwobi showed his quality of play in the 28 minutes he was on the pitch, making 35 touches on the ball and completing 87% of his 30 passes.

After the match, Silva praised Iwobi’s performance and the contribution of Timothy Castagne, who joined Fulham from Leicester City in the summer.

To be honest, in the first half we lacked a bit of dynamism to create chances,” Silva said, according to Tribal Football.

“There were some improvements in the second half, more dynamism, and two changes that had a big impact on the game.”

“It’s good to see Timothy make a good impression from his natural position, even though he can play on the left or the right. He can play very well on either flank, so for us It’s definitely a great addition.

“It’s good for Alex (Iwobi) to come in and get the first minutes. He’s sure to improve. The way we play will definitely make them better players. I’m really happy to have her.”

Fulham finished 10th last season and are already in 9th place this season with two wins and one draw from five games.
