While some of the Super Falcons’ star players performed well for the club, others struggled.
Super Falcons star Toni Payne recorded an assist in Sevilla Women’s 2-2 draw with Granada Women on Saturday, reports Soccernet.ng.
The Super Falcons are preparing for an Olympic qualifier against Cameroon later this month. However, before that, some of the invited players were active in their own clubs.
One of Randy Waldrum’s loyal agents, Payne was named in Sevilla’s starting eleven against Granada at the Ciudad Deportiva del Granada.
After Ornella Vignola and Pamela Gonzalez scored two goals in the first five minutes to make it 1-1, Payne assisted Martin Prieto Gutierrez to make it 2-1 before intermission.
Sevilla looked confident of victory, but at a crucial moment Naima García scored the equalizer, making the score 2-2. Although Paine played the full game, he was unable to help his team collect the three points.
Meanwhile, in France, Regina Otu and Amanda Mbadi played for Saint-Etienne, who defeated Reims, who also had Tosin Demehin and Rofiat Imran.
Charlene Mellon scored the first goal for Reims Women in the 32nd minute, but Mbadi equalized for Saint-Etienne in the 40th minute.
Reims took the lead again in the 57th minute with a goal from Noémie Mouchon. However, Cindy Caputo scored the tying goal again for the home team.
Anaele Le Mogdek scored Reims’ third goal in the 77th minute, but Demean broke the hearts of Reims fans with an own goal in the 85th minute. Fenesia Brown then scored the winning goal for Saint-Etienne in the 86th minute, with the score ending at 4-3.
