Palekele, Sri Lanka (AP) – The Asian Cup match between India and Pakistan was called off after light rain hampered play after the innings break on Saturday.
India chose to go first and was sent off for 266 in 50 overs. Pakistan failed to initiate a response, ruining the first one-day international match between the two countries since the 2019 Cricket World Cup in England.
Pakistan advanced to the second round after already beating Nepal on a shared point basis. India must beat Nepal in their final game of the group to advance.
The Indian hitter battled Pakistan’s three-pronged pace attack that reached speeds in excess of 140 km/h. Shaheen Afridi conceded his four wickets, Naseem Shah and Haris Rauch three wickets each.

Despite two rain interruptions during India’s innings, the match proceeded without reducing overs.
