Osimhen has been out of action since October but has made a big impression at Napoli since his return
Napoli coach Walter Mazzarri praised the performance of Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen in Saturday’s hard-fought 2-1 win against Atalanta, reports Soccernet.ng Reported.
Osimhen returned to the Napoli game after missing the past six weeks with a muscular injury. As a result, he was ruled out of Nigeria’s 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Zimbabwe last week.
However, Osimhen returned to Napoli on Saturday when the Partenopeans traveled to Bergamo to face Atalanta in Walter Mazzarri’s first game as manager.
Osimhen started on the bench and entered the match when the score was 1-1. However, it didn’t take long for him to show his talent. Fifteen minutes after being substituted, Osimhen made a nice pass to Elzif Elmas, who fired a low shot into the net.
In the end, this goal sealed victory for the Serie A champions. After the match, Napoli coach Mazzarri was very happy with Osimhen and heaped praise on the 24-year-old hitman.
“Osimhen? We are talking about a champion. He said (against Atalanta) that he would last 20 to 25 minutes. A player like that can make a difference. “He worries the opposition defense,” Mazzarri said, according to Napoli Magazine
.
Napoli’s next match is against Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League in midweek. Osimhen could make a full comeback against the Spanish giants.
