Osimhen failed to score in four games in a row, but he finally ended his scoreless streak against Udinese
Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen scored in Napoli’s 4-1 win over Udinese, ending a four-game scoreless streak, Soccer reported.
Osimhen has been in the headlines since Tuesday when he posted a video mocking Napoli’s missed penalty in their last game against Bologna.
Even after the post was deleted, fans remained supportive of the 24-year-old striker, and there were even rumors that he might leave Napoli after deleting the club from his Instagram profile.
It was a surprise to see the former Lille player included in the starting eleven for the match against Udinese.
It was clear from the start that Napoli were hungry for a win, and their pressure finally paid off when Hviča Kvaratscheria converted a penalty in the 17th minute. Osimhen did not take the penalty this time. Instead, Piotr Zielinski stole the ball and scored.
Osimhen played a good game as usual. He was keen to run, even though Udinese’s defenders kept their eyes on him. He received a great pass from midfield and he finally scored in the 39th minute. The Nigerian striker curled a low shot past Marco Silvestri into the Udinese goal, putting the champions up 2-0.
Osimhen was replaced by Giovanni Simeone in the 63rd minute. Eleven minutes later, Giovanni Simeone scored Napoli’s third goal. Lazar Samardzic scored the winning goal for Udinese and Simeone scored for Napoli in the 82nd minute.
Napoli has not yet issued a statement regarding the TikTok video issue, but it is clear that the issue is far from resolved.
