Official: David Ankeye – Nigerian forward joins Serie A side Genoa from Sheriff Tiraspol

The striker has made a huge leap from one of Europe’s lower leagues to one of the continent’s best divisions

In a statement on their official channels, Serie A side Genoa confirmed that the contract with David Anky is a permanent one, Soccernet.ng reported.

The exciting Nigerian striker joins the Italian elite club from Moldovan Superliga side Cherif Tiraspol.

According to Italian media reports, Genoa paid a fee of 3 million euros to secure Anky’s services.

Born in Port Harcourt 21 years ago, Anky made a huge impact in European club competitions and caught the attention of Genoa.

The youngster played in 10 games in the Europa League, scoring three goals, and also played in the Champions League qualifiers.

Anky has been in great form this season in the Moldovan Superliga.
The former Hammarby star scored 5 goals in 13 league games as Sheriff of Tiraspol.

Several other clubs were interested in his services, but Genoa beat other rivals to sign Anky, giving the youngster a three-and-a-half year contract until the summer of 2028. .

Ankie will wear the number 30 shirt at his new club.
