Esteban Ocon will live again as he did in the 2022 F1 season, with a reduced off-track program and full race mode.
After losing out to teammate Pierre Gasly in the 2023 F1 season, Alpine’s Ocon is determined to get back to his true self in 2022. He was less active off the track and had to spend more time training and preparing for the race. Set to race mode.
He lost to Gasly, but it wasn’t because of a difference in performance, it was because of his reliability in certain races. He had more DNFs than his teammates and paid a heavy price despite his solid performances throughout the 2023 F1 season.
Ocon said he would train until Christmas, then take a short break and return to fighting mode from January 2nd. “I intend to return for a full training camp from January 2nd until the first test,” he told the media. “I plan on doing more of what he’s been doing so far in 2022. It’s not about life, it’s full throttle, just racing.”
“This year we did a lot of different things and activities off the track. That will change next year. We are back in war mode and fully focused on racing. Before that we have a team Christmas party. There was also a little simulator work.I was able to meet my family that I hadn’t seen in a while for a few days.
“I also had a great time with my friends, Mick (Schumacher) and all my friends. I will immediately concentrate completely on next year,” Ocon concluded. This is to secure his future in F1 with a contract extension until the end of 2024.
