Barcelona star Oshoala has already won five awards, but he may have to leave room for more
Super Falcons striker Asisat Oshoala has been nominated for the CAF Player of the Year award along with Chiamaka Nadoji, Rashidat Ajibade, Toni Payne, Christy Uchebe, Oshinachi Ohale and Uchenna Kanu, Soccernet reported.
The Super Falcons had a great year at the FIFA Women’s World Cup, reaching the quarterfinals and coming close to reaching the semifinals for the first time. However, they were thwarted by a talented and strong England team.
She also won La Liga in impressive form, scoring 21 goals and 3 assists in 28 games.
Nadozi played an outstanding role for the Paris FC team, helping them qualify for the group stage of the Champions League. On the other hand, Ajibade has been very consistent with the Super Falcons. At club level, last season he played for Atlético Madrid, where he scored 9 goals in 28 games.
Toni Payne has also shown consistent performance for the Sevilla women’s team. Last season, she played in her 28 games for the club and recorded 3 goals and 4 assists.
Ahead of this year’s CAF Awards Ceremony in Morocco, CAF has announced the nominees for the awards. Of the 30 nominees for the Player of the Year award, seven are from Nigeria.
