NPFL: Clement Naantaum kicks-off Sporting Lagos festive celebrations after defeating Katsina United

Sporting Lagos has written a fairytale story by achieving promotion to the Nigeria Professional Football League just over a year after its formation in 2022.

Sporting Lagos, winless in their last three games, said Clement Nauntaum’s goal was enough to regain victory at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in LagosSoccernet.ng< /strong> reported. >

The last time the boisterous Lagosians celebrated a victory was in the first week of November in a 3-0 home game against Kano Pillars. Since then, the Lagosians have only picked up one point from their last three games.

Sporting’s top scorer Jonathan Aluke missed the team’s trip to Ondo State due to personal reasons as the team lost by just one point to Sunshine Stars. The striker also missed today’s match.

Super Eagles striker Junior Lokosa was used as a strike partner alongside Naibe Akpesiri as coach Paul’s side looked to break their slump.

The home team started the game at the front, with Emmanuel Oduffy breaking through the Katsina United defense and firing a shot on goal, but the Katsina goalkeeper was the trump card.

Fifteen minutes into the match, Naantaum broke through. The winger showed off his quick feet, dancing past defenders and firing the ball into the net for the opening goal.

The goalscorer was forced to be substituted in the 25th minute after Ocon was injured in a collision with a defender on Saturday.

The home team went into half-time with a one-goal lead and in the second half they held the lead and looked for more goals, but they didn’t want that because of the static Katsina defense.
