Nottingham Forest snub Dennis, name Awoniyi, Aina, ex-Liverpool, Chelsea stars in 25-man Premier League squad

The Reds currently have three Nigerian internationals on their roster, but the club will only rely on two of them for the remainder of the season

Nottingham Forest have announced their final 25-man squad for the 2023/24 Premier League season, Soccernet.ng reports.

Taiwo Awoniyi and Ola Aina are the only Super Eagles stars included in the confirmed squad. However, there is no room for Nigerian striker Emmanuel Dennis.

Aina joined Forest on a free transfer this summer after leaving Serie A side Torino and is one of 11 defenders available for Steve Cooper’s side.

Awonih will lead Tricky Trees’ attack, with former Chelsea player Callum Hudson-Odoi, former Liverpool striker Divock Origi and England international Chris Wood forming the support act.

Super Eagles striker Awonih was Forest’s top scorer with 10 goals last season and the former Union Berlin attacker has already started this season in great form.

Awoniyi scored three goals and provided one assist in four games and was nominated for the Premier League Player of the Month award for August.

The former Liverpool signing has already claimed both of Nottingham Forest’s Player of the Month and Goal of the Month awards.

However, Forest left Dennis, Awoni’s compatriot, out in the cold.

Dennis joined Nottingham Forest from Watford last year but had a below-average season.

The former Club Brugge player has reportedly turned down an offer from Russian club CSKA Moscow and is rumored to be linked with a move to Turkey’s Adana Demirspor and Istanbul Basaksehir.
