Following his outstanding performance, Awoniyi was awarded the Player of the Month award for August. He also won the Goal of the Month award for his goal against Manchester United.

Awonyi brought his good form to the Super Eagles team, scoring in a 6-0 win against Sao Tome and Principe on Sunday.

Nottingham Forest face Burnley next week in their first game after Monday’s friendly, and Awoniyi will be hoping to continue his form against the Clarets.
