Nottingham Forest defender Ola Aina reveals what he likes about Super Eagles boss Peseiro

The Portuguese tactician has achieved one of his main goals, taking Nigeria to the semi-finals of the continental championship

Nottingham Forest defender Ola Aina has revealed what he likes about the Super Eagles head coach’s leadership style, Soccernet.ng reported.

Peseiro took charge of the Nigeria national team in May 2022, weeks after the Super Eagles failed to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

The Portuguese tactician led the Super Eagles to their biggest victory since the start of the 2000s, a 10-0 victory over Sao Tome and Principe.

The former Porto manager had no problem helping Nigeria qualify for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

Despite injuries to key players before the start of the tournament, Peseiro ensured Nigeria reached the AFCON semi-finals to face South Africa.

Aina is happy with the former Sporting CP manager and the coaching style he applies to the star-studded Nigeria team.

“Jose is a good coach,” Aina said at the pre-match press conference ahead of Nigeria’s game against Bafana Bafana.

“He’s tough on us when he should be tough and forgiving. I think that’s the right balance for us players to progress and do things right.”

Aina was selected as the right-back for Nigeria at AFCON and was preferred over Fenerbahce full-back Bright Ossai-Samuel.
