‘No Disrespect Meant’ In Photo Of Feet On World Cup Trophy

Mitchell Marsh has defended the controversial photo of him putting his feet on the World Cup trophy during Australia’s post-tournament celebrations.

After Australia won the World Cup for the sixth time, Marsh broke his silence after being accused of disrespecting the match when he posed for a photo with the trophy at his feet.

The all-rounder contributed to Australia’s successful season, averaging 49 points and scoring the team’s third highest number of runs (441) with a strike rate of 107.56. However, this gesture was not well received by some Indian fans.

Indian speedster Mohammed Shami, among others, expressed his disapproval of the celebration.

“I’m hurt,” he told reporters on Friday, Nov. 24. “It’s the trophy that every team in the world is fighting for, the one they want to hold above their heads. I wasn’t happy to step on that trophy.”

In an interview with Sen Radio, Mr Marsh stressed that he meant no disrespect towards the silverware, saying: “Obviously there was no disrespect whatsoever in that photo. /p>

“I don’t really think about it. I don’t see it much on social media. But everyone said it was the beginning. There’s nothing to it.”

When asked if he would repeat what he had done, Marsh said, “Yes.” “Yeah, to be honest, probably.”
