The Nigeria international is a valuable midfield asset for the Portuguese giants and was up to the task again on Wednesday night.
Super Falcons midfielder Christi Uchebe won the Portuguese Women’s Super Cup with Benfica Ladies with a penalty shoot-out win against Sporting CP, reports Soccernet.ng.
The match, played at the Estadio Municipal de Aveiro, normally ended 1-1, but Benfica won 3-0 on penalties, retaining the trophy they won last year.
League champions Benfica were the clear favorites after their good form in recent weeks, but it took Francisca Nazareth until the 55th minute to take the lead.
However, Sporting CP reacted well and equalized after 18 minutes thanks to a great effort from Andrea Norheim.
Neither team could even score the winning goal in extra time, and Benfica’s quality was only revealed in the penalty shootout.
GOD DID IT AGAIN! ALL GLORY TO YOU LORDđź‘‘
To the Benfiquista family, thank you for your constant support and always so much love❤️

For Benfica Ladies, Costa, Cintra and Araujo all scored from the penalty spot, while for Sporting, Norheim, Dutra and Pinto were unable to find the back of the net.
It will be remembered that Uchebe scored the decisive penalty against Benfica in the Super Cup semi-final against Braga.
While Benfica’s women’s team celebrated their record third Super Cup win, it was Uchebe’s second and Portugal’s eighth in total.
Since joining Benfica in 2020, Uchebe has won the National Women’s Championship three times and the League Cup three times.
Uchebe is a serious midfielder from Nigeria who was Africa’s toughest tackler at the last FIFA Women’s World Cup and will be aiming to add to her three league titles this season.
Benfica Women start their season on Sunday with an away game against Torreense.
