Soccernet.ng presents the best performances by Nigeria’s star players in Europe and Asia on Friday, September 22, 2023.

In France’s Ligue 1, Monaco’s Folarin Balogun missed two penalties as Terem Moffi and OGC Nice secured a thrilling 0-1 derby victory at the Stade Louis II.

A week after the win against PSG in Paris, Marseille-born Jeremy Boga scored the winning goal for Nice in second-half stoppage time, as Moffi failed to capitalize on his chances.

In the Belarusian Premier League, Raymond Adeola scored his first goal of the season as Gomel cruised to a 2-0 victory over Minsk.

After Ilya Alexievich gave them the lead in the first half, Adeola doubled the home side’s lead with a penalty in the 52nd minute. Kaduna-born Jonathan John put in a solid defensive performance for the victorious team, helping them keep a clean sheet.

In Italy’s Serie A, Chukwubikem Ikwuemesi came on as a substitute to help Salernitana break a 1-1 draw at home to Frosinone.

On-loan Atalanta defender Caleb Okoli played for Frosinone and Romagnoli took the lead in the 12th minute. But just after the break, Salernitana’s Giovane Cabral scored the equalizer.

Despite being replaced by Ikwuemesi in the 67th minute, the home team was unable to secure their first win of the season.

In Finland’s Vejkkausliga, Peter Godley-Michael scored as VPS secured an impressive 3-0 away win against Honka. Michael’s goal, which came in stoppage time in the first half, was his 12th goal in 23 league games this season.

Moving on to Ikkonen, TPS had an exciting 2-2 draw away with SJK Akathemia, with Salisu Gero scoring for the second successive year.

Gelo gave the visiting team the lead in the fifth minute, and Rakamaki extended their lead to two points 20 minutes later.

However, SJK Akathemia made a spectacular comeback to equalize the match and secure a share of the spoils at Seinäjoki’s OmaSP Stadium. It was another fruitful day for the Nigerian striker in Saudi Arabia.

Odion Ighalo scored the winning goal against Abha at the King Abdulaziz Sports City Stadium in Mecca, taking Al Wehda’s fifth goal in five league games.

At Prince Faisal bin Fahd Stadium in Riyadh, Anthony Nwakaeme scored his first goal of the season to lead Al Faiha to a 1-3 away victory over Al Riyadh.

Nwakaeme opened the scoring, Henry Onyekuru scored the visitors’ second goal and Saleh Al Abbas reduced the lead for the hosts in the 80th minute.

However, Nwakaeme provided the assist for Al Faiha’s third goal, securing the three points at stake.
