Nathan Tella: England-born Leverkusen striker opens up on why he prefers to play for the Super Eagles

Nathan Tella may only be 24 years old, but he is a well-traveled player with a wealth of experience, having previously played for Arsenal and Burnley.

English-born Leverkusen striker Nathan Tella has explained the reasons behind his decision to play for Nigeria, reports Soccernet.ng.

A graduate of Arsenal’s prestigious Hale End Academy, Tella could easily have been selected to represent the Three Lions, but instead felt called to play for Nigeria.

Soccernet.ng previously reported that the midfielder sent a message to the NFF saying “come and get me” after he announced his intention to play for them. The player will eventually explain why.

“I feel like it’s always been a big part of my life. I was born in London and have lived all my life in England, but at the same time my parents and grandparents are Nigerian, so this has always been a big part of my life. I want to do something that will make my family proud because I think it’s a promising path that I can take,” the 24-year-old said in an interview withOmaSports TV.
