Michael Vaughan Jokes That Rohit Sharma Told DJ Not To Play ‘Dil Dil Pakistan’ During Ind-Pak Clash

Michael Vaughan jokingly said that Rohit Sharma must have asked the Ahmedabad DJ to not play the song ‘Dil Dil Pakistan’ during the India-Pakistan game at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

Pakistan coach Mickey Arthur said in the post-match press conference that he did not believe it was an ICC event and had never heard the famous song “Dil Dil Pakistan” at the stadium.

While discussing the match on Club Prairie Fire‘s podcast, former England captain Michael Vaughan humorously criticized Arthur in his post-match comments. Speaking to Adam Gilchrist, who pointed out Rohit Sharma’s maturity as a captain, which was evident in the India-Pakistan match, Vaughan said: “Ghilly, the great thing about Rohit is his tactical sense in the midfield and he controls it well.” Players like you mentioned Siraj are extra players just to give him a boost. I’m just giving something.

“But his best move, and the move that arguably won them the match, and which the Pakistan coach later alluded to, was what Rohit reportedly said to DJ: ‘ When you play, don’t do Dil Dil Pakistan’ Dil Dil, they will win, Pakistan will win too. So don’t play this song before the match. It’s obviously an inspiration to make them play well. Make sure they don’t listen to songs that give them rations. We have beaten them many times in the World Cup, but if we play with Dil Dil today, they will beat us.”

“That was smart. Most captains don’t think about DJs, music, these kinds of things. Rohit is ahead of his time,” Vaughan said derisively.

In fact, in the next match against Australia in Bangalore, Pakistan lost, and the DJ at the stadium played this song.
