Marks Out Of Ten: Player Ratings For India After Their 2-1 Series Victory Over South Africa | SA Vs IND

India won the three-match ODI series against South Africa 2-1. Here are the player ratings for the India player who were part of the series.

India entered the series with several key players rested. Most of the young players and junior players they selected stepped up and contributed to the series victory in the final game. A total of 14 players took part in the three matches for India, but only Yuzvendra Chahal and Akash Deep were absent from the match. Here are his 14 player ratings:

Ruturaj Gaikwad – 2/10

9 runs, 4.50, SR: 75, 0 50

Gaikwad’s inconsistent performance in international cricket continued with a stellar T20I series against Australia, followed by a poor performance in the ODI series against South Africa. Gaikwad failed to score double figures in both matches of the series.

Sai Sudharsan – 8/10

127 runs, 63.50, SR: 89.43, 2 50 points

Sudarsan made his international debut in this series and quickly rose to prominence. He scored an unbeaten fifty in his first ODI, followed by an unbeaten fifty in the second as well. Game 3 may have been a failure for him personally, but both he and India will be happy with his performance in the series.

Rajat Patidar – 4/10

22 runs in 22, SR: 137.50, 0 fifty

Patidar was another player who made his debut for India in this series. He replaced Gaikwad in the third match and played some great shots before being sent off at the age of 22.

Sanju Samson – 8/10

120 runs at 60, SR: 87.59, 100

Samson batted at number five in the second match and moved up to number three in the third match, scoring his maiden international century eight years after making his debut for India. It remains to be seen whether this will give him a long chance in the eleven, but he gave his all.

Shreyas Iyer – 7/10

52 runs in 52, SR: 115.55, 150

Iyer played the first game of the series and scored 50 points before taking a break to prepare for the Test. However, he looked a little uncomfortable when handling the short balls thrown to him.

KL Rahul – 7/10

77 runs, 38.50, SR: 77.77, 150

Rahul led the team well throughout the series. He scored his fifty in the second match, continuing his excellent form from the World Cup, and was as sharp as ever with his DRS calls behind the stumps.

Tilak Varma – 6/10

63 runs, 31.50, SR: 57.27, 150

The southpaw struggled to adapt to the pace of the format as he was too slow out of the blocks in the second and third ODIs. However, he made up for it well by breaking through without abandoning in the final game, scoring his first ODI fifty.

Rinku Singh – 7/10

55 runs at 27.50, SR: 134.14, 0 fifty
1 wicket at 2, ER: 2

Rinku Singh also made his ODI debut in the series and played his role as a finisher well, picking up where he left off in the T20I. His cameo of 38 off 27 lifted India from 217 in 41.2 overs to 296 in the third ODI and ultimately led them to victory.

Axar Patel – 5/10

8 runs for 4, SR: 30.761 wicket for 70, ER: 4.37

Aksar returned to the national team after being injured during the Asian Cup. He didn’t seem to be in good shape with the bat at all. He didn’t get any wickets with the ball, but like his counterpart Keshav Maharaj, he was very economical and kept things tight even on surfaces that didn’t have much to offer.

Kuldeep Yadav – 5/10

1 wicket at 51, ER: 4.85

Kuldeep couldn’t do much in the first game where seamers did most of the damage. He had no wicket in the second match and was rested in the third match.

Washington Sundar – 6/10

14 runs for 14, SR: 155.55, 0 fifty
2 wickets for 19, ER: 3.80

Thunder entered the third game of the series and performed well with both bat and ball. In the first innings he put the finishing touch with the bat with a nine-ball cameo of 14, making his return after scoring 2-38 in the 10th over, with the match tilting towards India’s side in the second innings. Mukesh Kumar – 2/10

1 wicket at 148, ER: 6.16

Mukesh got off to a good start to the series by bowling a great first over against Reeza Hendricks in the first game. However, he was unable to control both the new and old balls and things went downhill from there.

Avesh Khan – 8/10

6 wickets at 7:16 pm, ER: 4.82

Although Avesh came into the series with five ODI experience, it did not show in his performance as he adapted well at different stages of the innings. South Africa’s hopes were almost dashed as he took two wickets in his two balls in the first ODI. And in the third match, he picked the last wicket of Beuran Hendricks to end the series.

Arshdeep Singh – 9.5/10

error 404

Arshdeep was rightly named the Player of the Series. Arshdeep, who earlier played only three of his ODIs and did not pick a single wicket, came into his own, picking up wickets with both the new and old balls. In 3 matches he scored 10 of his wickets, Arshdeep also scored 10 cool sixes while batting, he smoked two. He has high hopes for his batting skills, which are frowned upon in India’s lower leagues.
