Ligue 1: Nantes match-winner Moses Simon describes his stunning strike against Clermont

Super Eagles winger Moses Simon has shared his thought process behind scoring the audacious goal that gave Nantes victory against Clermont Foote, Soccernet.ng reported.

The match, played on the unpleasant surface of the Stade Gabriel Montpierd, was deadlocked at half-time with few chances.

However, three minutes into the second half, Simon gave Nantes the lead.

Clermont goalkeeper Molly Diaw was left in no-man’s land when her backpass failed, allowing Simon to score his first goal past the stranded keeper. They won after a fierce battle.

Simon said of the goal on Prime Video (via Tribune Nantais) after the game:

“I saw the goalkeeper step forward. I noticed it in the first half. We had this chance and we had to take this step.

“This first win has been a long time coming. It’s a very important win for everyone and for our fans as well. We must continue to strive moving forward.”

With this win, Nantes now sit in 15th place with five points after their first five games. Monaco leads Ligue 1 with 11 points.
