Kyle Jamieson Called In As Cover

New Zealand have called in Kyle Jamieson as a cover to their World Cup squad as injuries to their fast bowlers have mounted.

New Zealand were plagued by several injuries during the tournament and were forced to name Kyle Jamieson as his replacement. The 1.80m tall right-handed sailor joined the team today (November 2) and will train with them tomorrow (November 3).

New Zealand started the World Cup without their two oldest players, Kane Williamson and Tim Southee. Fortunately, after missing his first few games, Williamson was injured again in his return game and is currently out. 4

Southie recoveredand played in the final match against South Africa in Pune, but New Zealand have picked up some fresh injuries recently. Lockie Ferguson injured his Achilles tendon and missed the final match against South Africa, while Matt Henry and Jimmy Neesham were injured during the match.

Henry injured his right hamstring midway through the sixth over, which was repaired by Neesham. The latter was hit in the hand while bowling. Henry did not return to the bowl or field after his injury and was unable to run when he came to bat at number 11 in a run chase, while Neesham, after batting hard, was 9th in the batting order when he found her. I was given my turn.

Neesham’s fracture has healed, but New Zealand is still waiting for Henry’s test results. Head coach Gary Stead said his injury forced him to call in a replacement. “Given the severity of Matt’s injury and his short return to Pakistan, we couldn’t risk an upset on Saturday,” Stead said.

Jameson was part of New Zealand’s World Cup squad at the start of the tournament as Southie was still recovering from injury. He then returned home and played his game Plunket Shield. Now he has been recalled to join the team as backup.

“He (Jamieson) will probably train with us on Friday and be available for Saturday’s game (against Pakistan). “Kyle will be training with us for a full two weeks at the start of the tournament. He then played in a Plunket Shield match, so we’re confident he can hit the ground running,” Stead said.
