Former South Africa batter Jonty Rhodes has denied being appointed as a consultant coach for Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) a day after they had made the announcement.
Sri Lanka Cricket issued a Press Release on January 18th announcing the decision taken by the Executive Committee at its January 16th meeting.
Among the various measures taken by the commission to ‘promote the game in the country’ was the appointment of prominent international coaches, including Rose, to train local coaches and trainers. I was there.

SLC is set to rope in Bharat Arun, former India bowling coach, as a consultant to help local coaches and players. Arun is credited with developing India’s formidable pace attack. Also joining are Jonty Rhodes to help fielding and Alex Kountouri to support local physiotherapists.

Rose is currently the fielding coach for Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL and Durban Super Giants in SA20. He previously played for the IPL’s Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings and also worked as the fielding coach for the Sri Lankan national team.
In 2015, Rhodes was appointed fielding coach for a short period of 10 days ahead of Sri Lanka’s Test series against Pakistan at home. It remains to be seen whether his recent association with Sri Lankan cricket comes to fruition.
