Jannik Sinner ‘has changed to professional’ claims Carlos Alcaraz
Jannik Sinner has won all 12 matches so far in 2024 and Carlos Alcaraz admits he is looking over his shoulder in the ATP rankings.
Sinner won his first career Grand Slam title at the Australian Open last month and returned with another win in Rotterdam last week, pushing the No. 3 Italian to a new career best.
Thank you Rotterdam! I always enjoy my time here, a great week and amazing support. Another awesome battle @alexdeminaur ????????

This leaves Sinner just 835 points behind second place, currently held by Alcaraz, and the Spaniard admitted he is well aware of this. I think he still has 1,000 points (to catch me), but that’s nothing for Jannik. I have to be as good as I can to prevent him from catching me and reclaiming the number one spot. ”
The gap between Alcaraz and Sinner narrowed to 535 points on Monday, with the former dropping 300 points after withdrawing from the first round of this week’s Rio Open.
Alcaraz then has to defend his 1,000 points from winning last year’s Indian Wells title, followed by his 360 points at the Miami Open. In both events, world No. 1 Novak Djokovic can only earn points if he is unable to compete in 2023.
Sinner has lost just two matches since last year’s US Open, and Alcaraz said of the changes he has seen in the Italian since then. “I’ve always said, there’s no secret. He worked very hard and it showed. In every tournament, he’s very focused on what he has to do. , is a very hard worker.”
Alcaraz continued as follows: “I often talk about it when I meet Juan Carlos (Ferrero). He’s too professional compared to the previous Sinner. He was like that before, but even more so now. , working every day and solving things. Every day’s hard work pays off, and that’s exactly what happened with Yannik, and I’m happy for both him and his team.”
Djokovic, Alcaraz and Sinner will all turn their attention to the Sunshine Double next, with the tournament starting in Indian Wells on Wednesday, March 6th.

In the baseline…
The race for world number one is heating up as Carlos Alcaraz has a lot of points to defend over the next month or so. Novak Djokovic was barred from entering the United States this time last year due to his vaccination status, so he is at least somewhat safe until the clay court season, meaning he can only earn points at Indian Wells and the Miami Open. It turns out. But all the momentum is now on Jannik Sinner, who will be a completely different player from the end of 2023.
