Iwasa, 22, from Osaka, Japan, currently sits third in the F2 championship, having won three times so far this season, with two races remaining in Abu Dhabi this weekend. . In fact, he won the feature race held at Yas His Marina last year, and in the championship he finished fifth.

Ayumu plans to return to Japan in the 2024 season to compete in the prestigious Super Formula series. This will be his first season back in his home country since 2019. He raced in Europe from 2020, winning the French F4 title, and the following year in F3 he finished 12th.

Ayumu Iwasa, who participated in this season’s FIA Formula 2 (F2) Championship as part of Honda’s driver development program, will compete full-time in the All Japan Super Formula Championship (Super Formula) in 2024. Ayumu Iwasa currently has a good result in F2, ranking 3rd overall at the end of the 13th race. Next season, he will drive for both Honda’s driver development program, the Honda Formula Dream Project (HFDP), and Red Bull’s driver development program, the Red Bull Junior Team. Iwasa will join TEAM MUGEN and compete alongside teammate Tomoki Nojiri, winner of the 2021 and 2022 Super Formula Championship. As announced, TEAM MUGEN has reached an agreement in principle to sign a multi-year contract with Nojiri, with the aim of winning the championship for the third time and strengthening the team.

Iwasa will also participate with Scuderia AlphaTauri in the end-of-season test at Yas Marina Circuit after the Abu Dhabi F1 Grand Prix. Honda will continue to focus on development programs that produce drivers who compete in the world’s top categories, including F1.
