“It’s not down to me” – Boniface speaks on Leverkusen’s success since he joined the club

Boniface moved to Leverkusen from Royal Union Saint Giroise in July in a deal worth 22 million euros.

Super Eagles striker Victor Okoh Boniface has refused to take all the credit for Leverkusen’s rejuvenation this season, reports Soccernet.ng.

Leverkusen has won all but one game in all competitions this season, and is currently in second place in the German Bundesliga after seven matches.

The Nigerian striker has been a key factor in the club’s success this season. He bayed for fans in his arena, only in 7 games he scored 7 goals, and in addition he assisted 2 goals.

Although he played a key role in this, the 22-year-old admits that Werkself’s success is not due to him, but to the work of the entire team.

“It’s not my fault. Leverkusen has signed six or seven players and my job is to help the team and they are doing the same. This It’s not just about me, it’s about the team,” he said onOmaSports TV.

The Super Eagles striker admitted that life in Germany was surprisingly easier than he expected.

“It was good to come to a top club like Leverkusen, play in the first team and help the team. It’s a surprise for me, but this is football and anything can happen.”

He also praised the coach for the way he introduced the team. He added:

“He’s a great guy, a great coach, a great football player. There’s a passion there and he knows what he wants. With him I’m happy to be able to work.”

Boniface will represent Nigeria against Mozambique and Saudi Arabia during the international break.
