“It’s been the best week of my year” – Leverkusen’s Tella filled with joy after Super Eagles call-up

Nathan Temitayo Tera was born and raised in the UK to Nigerian parents, but recently decided to don the Super Eagles colors.

Super Eagles new player Nathan Tella says the past week has been his best so far since being called up to the national team, reports Soccernet.ng .

The 24-year-old winger scored his first Bundesliga goal with a breathtaking counter-attack against Union Berlin just days after his appointment was announced.

Tella, who was born and raised in England, joined Leverkusen from Southampton last summer in a deal worth around £20 million alongside Victor Boniface.

Tera expressed his happiness at being given the opportunity to represent Nigeria in an interview with OmaSports TV.

“When I first heard about the draft, I was really happy. Having the opportunity to represent my country is a huge feeling for me. I received a call-up to Leverkusen and scored my first Bundesliga goal. It’s a huge decision. It was probably the best week of the year for me,” the former Southampton player said after his team’s game against Union Berlin.

As a former teammate of Joe Aribo and current teammate of Werkself’s new marquee player Victor Bonifas, Terra said he is looking forward to playing with the best players in the country.

“I also talked to Victor, Joe Aribo, and Alex Iwobi. Personally, I want to play with the best players in the country, learn from all of them, practice my style of play, and play well. I’m looking forward to trying to do that. I’m looking forward to it.”

After scoring his first goal in the Bundesliga and preparing for his call-up to the national team a week later, the winger is full of confidence and wants to help the team whenever he is called upon.

“Since being called up, I am still in good spirits. I hope to pass on the excitement and confidence that the goal brought to the national team and have a good week with the team.”I am in Nigeria It was just that. Looking forward to going back there when I was little. “Victor promised to look after me,” the winger added.

The Super Eagles will play Lesotho on Thursday for a spot in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with Tela set to make his debut.
