The former Flying Eagles striker has been a sensation in the French top flight this season and continues to dream of earning his first international call-up.
Montpellier striker Akole Jerome Adams is confident that his time to play for Nigeria’s Super Eagles will come sooner rather than later, Soccernet.ng reported.
Since arriving at Montpellier from Norwegian club Lilleström, Adams has been a fireworks force in French Ligue 1.
The former Flying Eagles attacker has scored seven league goals for Montpellier, second only to PSG superstar Kylian Mbappé’s 13 goals, the highest in the Elite League.
However, Adams’ talent was only demonstrated at club level as he did not have the chance to achieve the same results with the national team.
Nigeria currently boasts perhaps the best attacking team in the world, scoring regularly in Italy (Victor Osimhen), England (Taiwo Awoniyi), Germany (Victor Boniface) and France (Telem Moffi) There are several strikers who are scoring.
The Super Eagles are preparing for their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Zimbabwe in Uyo without star striker Osimhen.
Despite the injury of Osimhen being unavailable, Peceiro named five of his top strikers for the match, leaving no room for the still-in-form Adams and Onuachu.
Adams is disappointed by his absence but still believes he can represent Nigeria in January’s Africa Cup of Nations.
I think it’s the dream of every little child growing up in their home country to represent the national team,” Adams said, according to Arepairado newspaper.
“This is my case. But today I have to wait two months before the competition starts. I am mainly focused on the match against Montpellier. When it comes, it will come. And , and will notify the club at that time.”
Nigeria’s attacking strength means the Super Eagles will be one of the favorites to win Ivory Coast’s fourth AFCON title.
