“It pained me”- Sadiq Umar reacts to Real Sociedad’s draw against Inter Milan in UCL opener

On Wednesday, Umar played in the Champions League tournament with Real Sociedad, but it did not go as expected

Super Eagles striker Sadiq Umar admitted he was disappointed with Real Sociedad’s 1-1 draw with Inter Milan in the opening match of the UEFA Champions League, Soccer reported .

Real Sociedad started their UEFA Champions League campaign against Inter Milan on Wednesday. Nigerian attacker Umar had to sit on the bench for the match. Tuliurdin took the lead in the 4th minute with a goal from Blaise Mendez.

Although Real Sociedad dominated most of the match, they were unable to add to their goal tally. Umar came on as a substitute in the 72nd minute, but his presence didn’t change much.

Unfortunately for the La Liga side, Inter Milan scored just three minutes before the end of regulation time.

Umar looked disappointed after the match, indicating that he was disappointed with the result.

“We were winning 1-0 when we entered the game, but it hurt that we got a last-minute goal to make it 1-1.”Umar told Oma Sports.

“Everything depends on the result, but we’re just looking forward to the next game. We didn’t lose today. It was good to get one point, but we couldn’t get three points. It’s a shame because it should have happened.”

Since Umar returned from a long injury absence, he has not scored a goal. He had to make do with coming on as a substitute at Real Sociedad.

The club faces Getafe on Sunday and Umar will be hoping to score again and chase away the monkeys.
