“I’m surprised by what he’s doing” – Coach Michel Der Zakarian heaps praise on Akor Adams

Akol Adams has proven his worth for Montpellier Hérault SC by scoring goals and helping the team up front after his move from Norwegian club Lilleström.

Montpellier head coach Michel der Zakarian has heaped praise on Nigerian striker Akol Adams, who has made a bright start to his debut season in the French top flight, reports Soccernet.ng Reported.

Adams, 23, moved to Montpellier in the summer after playing for two Norwegian teams: Sondal Football and Sportsclub Lilleström.

With seven goals in 11 games, he was second in the goalscoring rankings behind Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappé, and his hard work was praised by his manager.

In an interview with French broadcaster Ales Payard, coach Der Zakarian admitted that he was surprised by Akor’s qualities.

“I’m amazed at what he’s doing. In a championship that’s not easy, he adapted quickly. He scored goals, The way he creates chances is very good. He has good processes, decision-making, technical gestures, and enjoys his job. I don’t know if it’s great, but he will be in 2023. We scored 24 goals,” said the Armenian coach.

The 60-year-old added that Akor still has room for improvement, but concluded that he is satisfied with his overall play and potential.
