“I’m delighted for Patrik”- Boniface praises Bayer Leverkusen teammate despite tussle for starting shirt

Boniface is currently Bayer Leverkusen’s first-choice striker, but he could easily be replaced by Schick if he loses his form

Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface praised Bayer Leverkusen teammate Patrik Schick after the Czech defender scored a hat-trick against Bochum on Wednesday, reports Soccernet.ng Reported. /p >

Bayer Leverkusen acquired Boniface from Royal Union SG of the Belgian Jupiler League in the summer. The Nigeria international quickly made a name for himself within the club.

The 22-year-old hitman was acquired as a potential replacement for Schick after a long-term injury, but he has exceeded expectations. Bonifati has contributed to the top of the Bundesliga this season with Werkself, where he has scored 10 goals and provided 7 assists in 16 Bundesliga games.

However, Schick returned to Bayer Leverkusen in November and impressed. The Czech star started against Bochum on Wednesday after manager Xabi Alonso opted to keep all of his African stars on the bench. Schick returned the favor with a hat trick in the first half. Boniface then came on as a substitute and secured a 4-0 victory. This victory ensures that Bayer and his Leverkusen will finish his 2023 in first place in the league.

After the results, Boniface was very satisfied and congratulated Schick on his performance.

“It was a great match. “I’m really happy to win and I’m also happy for Patrick,” Boniface said via Bayer Leverkusen X-Grip.

“Everyone on the team is playing great and we’re really happy for each other.”

Given Schick’s talent and Boniface’s likelihood of playing in the African Cup of Nations in January, the Super Eagles striker could lose his place in the starting XI.
