Former England captain Nasser Hussain thinks it might not be a bad idea for India captain Rohit Sharma and his team to take a break before the match against Sri Lanka at home . The Men in Blue are on a six-game winning streak for him and will be hoping to perform well in the remaining ODI World Cup matches as well.
Apart from Hardik Pandya’s injury, Team India seems to be in great form and has all the conditions to win the championship. The Men in Blue showed their best form and intensity in a win against a quality opponent. Besides their incredible form and remarkable individual performances, the great camaraderie of the Indian team has played a key role in maintaining their dominance in this mega event.
ODI World Cup Broadcaster Nasser Hussain believes that the host team has an advantage in home World Cups as there is a break between matches. He cited Indian captain Rohit Sharma as an example of someone who was absent from the team in Mumbai. He also stressed that if he were India’s coach, he would ensure that the players get some time away from the World Cup bubble.
“One of the advantages of a home World Cup is to have work, rest, and play. For someone like Rohit Sharma, I’d say get some time away from this team. You’re in Mumbai now, go and see the family. It’ll help get away from the game. It’s a very long tournament. You’ve been under pressure for a long time. If I were Rahul Dravid, I would tell some of the players to take some time off and escape this World Cup bubble,” Nasser Hussain said.
After winning his 100th match as India’s captain, Rohit returned to the Wankhede Stadium where he has grown over the years in domestic cricket and the IPL. After missing out on India’s moment of success in the 2011 World Cup,Rohit Sharma was determined to put on a show for his home crowd.
He has already lit up the stage with 398 points in six games, averaging 66.33 points, including two games in the 50s and 100s. The Indian captain will be keen to maintain his good form towards the end of the tournament.
