ICC Test Rankings Update: Pope Makes Massive Jump, Root Closes In On Top All-Rounder Spot

The ICC Test rankings have seen some major shuffling following two intense Test matches at the Gabba and in Hyderabad last week.

Updates from the India-England Test

Olly Pope, who scored an impressive 196 in the second innings of the Hyderabad Test, has taken a huge leap forward in the Test batsmen’s rankings. He currently ranks 15th on the list, moving up 20 spots to reach the highest rating of his career. Ben Duckett also moved up, moving up five places to 22nd. Kane Williamson continues to lead the Test batter rankings.

Jasprit Bumrah has moved up from 5th to 4th in the bowlers’ rankings after his impressive performance on turning pitches in Hyderabad. R Ashwin, on the other hand, took his six wickets in the first Test against England, strengthening his position at the top.

Joe Root has moved up one place to fourth in the all-rounder rankings after picking up five wickets with the ball in Hyderabad. Meanwhile, Ravindra Jadeja tops the all-rounder rankings.

Updates from the Australia-West Indies Test

Usman Khawaja has moved up from 10th to 8th in the batsmen’s rankings after his half-century against West Indies at the Gabba. Meanwhile, Marnus Labuschagne fell six places behind him, leaving him in 10th place.

But the big story of the Australia vs West Indies Test was the story of Shamar Joseph. The Guyanese took seven wickets in the second innings of the Gaba Test, almost single-handedly outsmarting the West Indies with quick bowling and clinching victory. His performance took him into the top 50 of the Test bowlers rankings. Joseph has moved up 42 places and is currently in 50th place.

But he is not the only West Indies fast bowler to rise up the rankings. Alzarri Joseph moved up four places to place him in 33rd place and Kemar Roach moved up two places to place him in 17th place.
