I Thought He Under-bowled Himself As Captain – Ben Stokes On Utilising Joe Root’s Bowling Prowess In The 1st Test

England Test captain Ben Stokes has praised Joe Root’s bowling performance in the opening Test of the five-match series against India ahead of the second match in Vizag. The England captain praised Root for his excellent all-round performance for his team in the longer format of the match.

Joe Root displayed exceptional bowling skills in the first Test, taking five important wickets in both innings. The off-spinner took four wickets in the first innings, becoming the team’s top wicket-taker. He also picked up the important wicket of KL Rahul in the second innings. In the recent encounter at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, Ben Stokes’ side won by 28 runs.

Ahead of the second Test, England captain Ben Stokes jokingly claimed that he was the one who made Joe Root a bowler, adding that he was a great addition to his batting skills for the team. He emphasized the importance of Root’s bowling skills. p>

“I always said to Joe that I thought he under-bowled as captain, and when he left with the forfar, I said to him: “Look, you said you were going to be a bowler.” It’s about you.”
