Afghanistan wicketkeeper and batsman Rahmanullah Gurbaz was seen with Pakistan’s star batsman Babar Azam, who was close to tears after the historic victory over Pakistan in the 2023 ODI World Cup in Chennai. I recalled the memories of when we met. Afghanistan defeated Men in Green by eight wickets in a league match in the premier event.

Babar Azam presents the bat to Rahmanullah Gulbaz after Afghanistan’s eight-wicket win over Pakistan in Chennai. Despite scoring a total of 282 runs, the men in green could not stop Afghanistan from reaching the score.

Rahmanullah Gulbaz spoke to Pakistani influencer Momin Saqib and revealed that the then Pakistan captain Babar Azam was very emotional and disappointed after the defeat against Afghanistan in the 2023 ODI World Cup. He revealed that he had done so. He praised Babar’s “never give up” attitude despite heavy criticism and said he could empathize with the player’s feelings after such a devastating defeat.

“Trust me, I tried not to say it on camera, but I want to say he was close to tears. He was very depressed, but I’ve never seen a player like that. Never before. Everyone was against him. But I salute Babar bhai, he was so strong and kept going. He never gave up.

“When Babar won against Pakistan, I will never forget that moment when I asked for his bat. “When he brought the bat, he was very disappointed. As a player, I can sympathize with him,” Rahmanullah Gurbaz said.

“Especially in a situation like this, I feel like you know the moment you lose a game. He was under so much pressure. I remember getting emotional too. He is one of the best players and one of the best captains,” Rahmanullah Gurbaz added.

Pakistan started the 2023 World Cup season with 2 wins and 0 losses before suffering three consecutive losses. After finishing sixth in the points table and missing out on a ticket to the semi-finals, Babar Azam resigned from the captaincy role across all formats.

A lot has changed since Pakistan pulled out of the ODI World Cup. After the team’s terrible performance in the premier tournament, Babar Azam resigned as leader.
