Harry Brook regrets comments he made regarding India’s fans following a century during the 2023 Indian Premier League.
Brook struggled overall in his first IPL season, but one amazing highlight was Sunrisers Hyderabad’s 100% win against Kolkata Knight Riders.
After the match, Brook responded to those who criticized him on social media for his poor performance early in the tournament, saying he was “glad I silenced them.”
“When you’re on social media, people call you bullshit and you start to doubt yourself a little bit,” he said. “I went out tonight thinking I didn’t care, but luckily it worked out.
“There are probably a lot of Indian fans who will say ‘good job’ tonight, but they beat me up a few days ago. Honestly, I’m glad I was able to shut her up.”< /p>
Brook, who has since been released by Sunrisers Hyderabad and returned to the IPL auction pool, has now said he regrets making these comments. “I was stupid and I kind of regret saying some stupid things in the interview,” he told reporters in the Caribbean.
“In India, you end up sitting in a hotel room with nothing to do, so you end up scrolling through Instagram, Twitter, etc. and finding things you don’t want to see.”
Brook, who took 71/72 in England’s defeat to West Indies in the first ODI, said he is currently taking a break from social media to avoid “negativity”.
“I haven’t been active on social media in a while. “I delete everything that comes to mind from my phone,” he said.
“I didn’t see any negativity at all. I think not using social media and seeing all the negativity that comes with it helped my game, my mental health, everything. Of course, I still have Instagram and Twitter, but luckily I have someone to run them for me.”
