“I hope to go to Leverkusen soon” – Super Eagles and Antwerp star Ejuke reveals bond with Boniface

Two Nigerian strikers are enjoying exciting moments in Europe after their breakthrough in Norway

Royal Antwerp winger Chidera Ijuku has spoken about his friendship with Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface, Soccernet.ng reports.

Former Heerenveen star Ijukwu revealed that he was in a relationship with Bonifati when they were playing at Nigeria’s football academy, before reuniting at Norwegian club Valerenga.

After leaving Gombe United after failing a trial with Liverpool, Ejukwu first spent time in Europe, developing his talent at Balerenga from 2017 to 2019.

During this time, Real Sapphire academy candidate Bonifatius was on trial with Valerenga, but was unable to sign a contract with the Oslo-based club.

Boniface then signed with another Norwegian club, Bodø/Glimt, in 2019, from where he moved to Union Saint Giroise in 2022.

The 22-year-old spent just one season with the Belgian team before moving to German Bundesliga newcomer Bayer Leverkusen this summer.

After leaving Norway, Ejuk’s football career took him to the Netherlands, Russia, Germany and now Belgium, where he continues to wear the colors of champions Antwerp.

The two friends kept in touch during their separation, and Boniface returned to Belgium a few months ago to check on Ijuku at his training ground in Antwerp.

Ejuque also returned the favor and promised to visit Boniface in Leverkusen within a few days.

According to Guva, when discussing Boniface’s presence at the Antwerp training center, Ijuk said: “He was there for me, yes.”

“We have been friends for a long time. We used to live very far away, but we met at a youth tournament and started talking.”

Recalling that they were on the verge of becoming teammates at Valerenga, Ijuku said:

“He was on probation but was not allowed to stay in custody. Luckily he ended up going to another Norwegian club (Bødo/Glimt, editor’s note) and regularly We were able to meet. We still do that. I hope we can go to Leverkusen soon.”

While Ijuk needed time to get used to Belgium, Boniface got used to German football like an Icelandic Eskimo.

The Super Eagles star was named the winner of the Bundesliga’s first four Rookie of the Month awards. He is an important member of his team, Bayer and Leverkusen, who are unbeaten in his 23 games in all competitions this season.
