Watch: Adam Zampa failed to grab onto a caught-and-bowl chance, dropping D’Arcy Short on 13 before the batter went on to score his 33rd T20 fifty during the Adelaide Strikers-Melbourne Renegades 2023/24 BBL clash on Friday (December 29).
On the 6th ball of the 6th over, Zampa bowled a short ball to Short, who tried to bat it away. However, he took the shot too early and ended up only firing the shot towards the bowler. The bowler was preparing to take the catch by placing his hand into the inverted cup. However, the ball came to him later than expected and the extra wait resulted in Zampa’s mistake, leaving Zampa stunned at his missed opportunity.
Short hit 13 off 17 at this stage and scored 41 runs off his next 30 deliveries to take Adelaide to 177-6 from 20 overs.
Zampa was unable to pick up another wicket in the innings and finished the match with figures of 0-25 as Melbourne looked for their first win of the tournament.
