At Adelaide Oval against the West Indies, Glenn Maxwell equalled Rohit Sharma’s world record of five T20I hundreds.
Australia were 64-3 in the seventh over after Rovman Powell opted to field at Adelaide. At this point, Marcus Stoinis joined Glenn Maxwell, and the pair put on 82 in 42 balls, of which Stoinis made only a 15-ball 16.
Tim David joined in the fun with an unbeaten 31 not out in 14 balls as the fifth pair added an unbroken 95 in 38 balls. At the other end, Maxwell brought up his fifth T20I hundred to go past Suryakumar Yadav’s tally of four centuries and equal Rohit Sharma’s world record tally.

Rohit had gone past Maxwell and Suyra earlier this year, against Afghanistan. Behind the trio, on three hundreds each, are Babar Azam, Colin Munro, and Sabawoon Davizi.
Maxwell needed only 50 balls to reach his hundred. He finished on 120 not out in 55 balls with 12 fours and eight sixes.
Glenn Maxwell: The five T20I hundreds
145* (65), 14 fours, 9 sixes against Sri Lanka, Pallekele 2016
103* (58), 10 fours, 4 sixes against England, Hobart 2017/18
113* (55), 7 fours, 9 sixes against India, Bengaluru 2018/19
104* (48), 8 fours, 8 sixes against India, Guwahati 2022/23
120* (55), 12 fours, 8 sixes against West Indies, Adelaide 2022/23
As is evident, Maxwell remained unbeaten during each of his five T20I hundreds (and in six of his seven hundreds in all Twenty20 cricket).
At the match, Australia amassed 241-4 over the course of the match, their fourth-highest total in the format after 263-3 (against Sri Lanka in 2016), 248-6 (against England in 2013), and 245-5 (against New Zealand in 2017/18).
However, this is the highest T20I total on Australian soil. Australia beat their own record of 233-2, set against Sri Lanka at Adelaide in 2019/20. In fact, there has been only one larger T20 total in the country – Melbourne Stars’ 273-2 against Hobart Hurricanes in the 2021/22 BBL.
At the time of writing, the West Indies were 11-0 after one over.
