Full NZ Team List, Player News And Injury Updates

New Zealand have announced their provisional squad for the 2023 ICC World Cup. Here is a complete list of New Zealand teams, including player news and injury updates.

Having not played ODIs or professional cricket since January, Kane Williamson will be fit again to lead New Zealand in the World Cup. Like Tim Southey, this will be his fourth tournament for him.

To put an end to all discussions and deliberations, New Zealand also brought in Trent Boult, who waived his central contract.

Williamson will join second-in-command Tom Latham with the bat, along with Devon Conway, Glenn Phillips, Will Young, Darryl Mitchell and Mark Chapman. Latham, Conway and Phillips all keep wickets and keep the team balanced.

The all-rounders include seamer Jimmy Neesham and spinners Mitchell Santner and Lachin Ravindra. Mitchell and Chapman can also step in.

Santner is also expected to lead the spin attack alongside Ish Sodhi. The pace attack of Boult, Southee, Matt Henry and Lockie Ferguson looks formidable even without Adam Milne, who is suffering from a hamstring injury.

New Zealand achieved second place in both 2015 and 2019, their best result at the Men’s World Cup. Australia won a one-sided final in 2015, while England’s victory in 2019 was “very close”. This was measured at boundaries after the teams were drawn after a super over.

Only Australia (69 games) has played more World Cup games than New Zealand’s 54, and only Australia (3 games), India (1,827 games) and South Africa ( 1,852 matches).
