Sri Lanka have announced the men’s schedule for the 2024 season which will begin with a white-ball tour against Zimbabwe in early January.
After the recent World Cup, Sri Lanka, which was suspended by the International Criminal Court (ICC) for political interference in the board’s functioning, was granted permission to play international cricket for two matches. They will start their home series next year against Zimbabwe and Afghanistan.
The 1996 World Cup winners finished ninth in the tournament, ahead of only the Netherlands, missing out on qualifying for the 2025 Champions Trophy.
This is one of six tours to be held in Sri Lanka, with the highlight being India’s visit to the country with three ODIs and an equal number of T20Is. This will be the first white-ball series between the two teams since 2021, when India’s second team toured Sri Lanka and the main team took part in a Test series against England.
Sri Lanka will then travel to England for three Test matches before hosting New Zealand and West Indies. The year ends with two away tours to Sri Lanka. They will travel to South Africa for the first time in three years and then travel to New Zealand in the last week of December for a six-match white-ball series comprising three ODIs and three T20Is. p>
Sri Lanka will also visit Bangladesh to play two Tests, three ODIs and three T20Is in early 2024.
