Ireland’s trip to the UAE to play Afghanistan begins on February 28, 2024. Here is the AFG vs IRE 2024 schedule, including full fixtures list and match timings.
Afghanistan will host Ireland in their home base in the United Arab Emirates for one Test match, three ODIs and three T20Is. Test matches will be held at Abu Dhabi’s Tolerance Oval, while Sharjah Cricket Stadium will host all six of his matches in limited overs.
Afghanistan and Ireland were admitted as full members of the ICC in 2017 and are the newest Test participants. Afghanistan’s only previous encounter was in Dehradun in 2019, where they won by seven wickets. As expected, Rashid Khan played a key role in the victory with his 2 wins, 20 losses, and 5 wins and 82 losses.
It was Afghanistan’s first win in Test cricket in just their second attempt. They then defeated Bangladesh and Zimbabwe, leaving them with an impressive record of three wins and five losses after eight games. He also placed 6th in the 2023 World Cup.
Meanwhile, despite boasting a record of 13 wins and 16 losses against Afghanistan, Ireland failed to qualify for the 2019 and 2023 World Cups after losing all seven friendly matches. However, Afghanistan leads her 16-6 in T20Is.
Ireland has team names in all three formats. Andy Balbirnie will lead in Test matches, while Paul Stirling will lead in both limited-overs formats. They have not played international cricket since the tour of Zimbabwe in December 2023.
Afghanistan has not announced their team name yet. They have just completed a tour of Sri Lanka, where they lost their only Test match, the ODIs 0-3 and the T20Is 1-2.
