Sivasspor striker Ahmed Musa has announced his intention to return to the Nigeria Premier Football League as he nears the end of his football career, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Super Eagles star started his football journey at GBS Football Academy and later worked at JUTH FC and Kano Pillars, where his outstanding performances, including some important goals, led Pillars to the league in the 2009/10 season. led to second place.

His impressive domestic performance earned him a call-up to the Super Eagles as a home player. This was a pivotal moment when Musa established himself as a supporter of the development of his league in Nigeria and the participation of players in the national team.

He scored 42 goals in 125 appearances for CSKA Moscow, and also had notable spells at Leicester City and Al Nasr, where he played 50 games before briefly returning to Kano Pillars before joining Turkish club , transferred to Fatih Karagmuluk.

Musa has returned to the Nigerian League and this time revealed his plans to stay longer than last time to show his love for the league.

“I always talk about the Nigerian League because I was once a product of the Nigerian League. And that has brought me to where I am today. And until tomorrow, every time I quit football, I will always talk about the Nigerian League. I will be returning to play in the Nigerian League, but this time I will stay and play for a longer time, just to show my love for the Nigerian League,” Musa said on X (formerly Twitter Space), Soccernet.ng observed.

He highlighted the challenges faced by Nigerian players considering returning home, citing the idea that leaving Europe for the Nigerian league could mean the end of a career.

“The reason why some players don’t want to come to Nigeria is because they think that if they are in Europe and come back to Nigeria, they won’t be ready for tomorrow. “That’s why he returned to the Nigerian League,” Musa said.

Musah is in favor of adding home players to the Super Eagles squad and believes the addition of these players will contribute to the development of the league. However, current manager Jose Peceiro has yet to include any homegrown players in his starting eleven.

As the African Cup of Nations approaches, home players are keen to earn a call-up in the hopes that this selection will propel them onto the world stage.
