“Football has helped my life” – New Montpellier striker Akor Adams reflects on life as a footballer

After a successful start to his life in France with three goals in four games, Eikor Adams explains how football has helped shape his career as a person.

Nigerian striker Akole Jerome Adams, who recently moved to French Ligue 1 side Montpellier Hérault Sports Club, has expressed his gratitude for the opportunities soccer has given him, Soccernet.ng reported.

Since joining Montpellier, the striker has made an excellent start, scoring three goals in just four games, including a stunning 4-1 win against Ligue 1 giants Olympique Lyon.

A talented 18-year-old Akor made the jump to Norway’s Sogndal from Africa’s Jamba Football Academy.

After three years at Sogndal, he moved to Lilleström Sports Club where he showed his scoring ability, scoring 25 goals in 46 games.

In an interview with OmaSports TV, Akor talked about how soccer changed his life on and off the field.

“I come from a humble family, neither rich nor extremely poor. But by the grace of God, football has not only been a part of my life, but has become closely related to my family, friends and even me. “I strongly believe that it has improved the lives of people who don’t have it,” he said.

Beyond the material aspects, the 23-year-old stressed that football taught him discipline and kept him out of trouble.

He added: “It goes beyond the physical reward. Football also gives hope to those around you. Football has protected me from certain temptations that are common among young people.”< /p>

Akor looks back on his involvement in sports and says: “To be successful in football, I had to make sacrifices like keeping a strict schedule and avoiding distractions, which helped me stay focused from the beginning. ”

For Akor, success has a non-traditional definition. He believes that success is a privilege that enables individuals to effect positive change.

“Success can be misleading, because sometimes you think you are far ahead of others, but in reality, you are just blessed. What matters is how you use that privilege to make a difference,” he explained.

Acor’s ambitions at Montpellier remain the same and we hope that next season’s team will be able to qualify for European competitions.
