The FIA Compliance Department is investigating the possible conflict and role of Toto Wolff and Susie.
Following the publication of a report in Business F1 on potential conflicts and information sharing between F1 team principals and FOM employees, the FIA has confirmed that the Compliance Department is reviewing the issue to better understand both parties. He indicated that he is investigating.
They are Toto, the head of Mercedes F1, and Susie, the head of the F1 Academy, a married couple who play their respective roles. The former has long been part of the German manufacturer, and the latter was appointed head of his series of feeders a few years ago.
The report suggests that the issue of information being passed between the two parties be discussed in the paddock. This is in reference to what happened in his 2021, when information about cost cap violations was clearly passed on to TOTO.
A Mercedes employee had temporarily joined the FIA and was suspected of disseminating information. No formal notice was sent indicating that the person would not ultimately receive a permanent position on the governing body.
This set off alarm bells in the paddock, where Toto and Susie’s current topic drew attention. The governing body is currently considering the issue, but has not specifically mentioned it, despite recent reports linking it to Wolff.
“The FIA is aware of media speculation surrounding allegations that sensitive information was passed to F1 team principals by members of FOM staff,” the statement said. “The FIA Compliance Department is investigating this matter.”
