FIA formally warns Wolff & Vasseur for language in Las Vegas PC

The FIA ​​has formally warned Toto Wolff and Frédéric Vasseur over the language used at the official press conference for the F1 Las Vegas Grand Prix.

After FP1 was canceled on Thursday and Friday at the F1 GP held in Las Vegas, Carlos Sainz not only suffered the damage of being penalized through no fault of his own, but was also put under pressure. , Ferrari team principal Vasseur was understandably upset. Vasseur was visibly upset and in a bad mood during the FIA’s official press conference and expressed his disappointment with the situation in an unusual way. He was not satisfied with the way things had been handled up to that point, especially in the penalty area.

It wasn’t their fault, but the FIA ​​decided there was no way to overturn Sainz’s penalty. Mr Vasseur claimed that the governing body had failed to deal with the situation and had not discussed it until after the weekend.

His discomfort with the press conference was noted by the FIA ​​and he was formally warned for his conduct as a leader in the paddock. This was his violation of Article 12.2.1.f of the FIA ​​International Sporting Code.

The violation states: “Based on the FIA’s submissions, the FIA ​​considers that this type of prescription will not be acceptable in the future, especially when used by participants in this sport, which has a high public profile and is seen by many people. .As a role model, especially to young people who are supporters of this sport, and the FIA ​​will no longer tolerate the use of such language in FIA forums by any stakeholder.”

On Wolff’s Mercedes page, he expressed strong opinions against journalists who had interrupted him while responding to the Las Vegas Grand Prix debacle. The FIA ​​also found him guilty of a similar violation and, like Vasseur, he was eventually let off with a formal warning.

They said the following. “According to the team manager, the language in question in this case is unusual and was caused by a sudden heckling during a press conference, and therefore cannot be considered unique to the team manager. .”
