F1 has refuted the FIA’s statement regarding the dispute investigation, and Mercedes has also responded to the media proceedings.
Earlier in the day, the FIA issued a statement regarding the investigation into F1 team principals and FOM employees in the information sharing dispute incident. The names of those involved were not disclosed, but it was noted that compliance officers were investigating the matter.
There is growing speculation about the involvement of Mercedes F1 team principal Toto Wolff and F1 Academy president Susie Wolff. One report said there was talk in the paddock that the couple had a conflict of interest.
Just hours after the FIA issued its statement, F1 refuted the incident. They point out that the governing body has not communicated this statement to them and that they have full confidence in the public and reject the claims made in the aforementioned report.
A few minutes later, Mercedes issued its own statement, referring to a confidential briefing on the matter, but denying that it had received a memo from the FIA. He is defending team principal Wolff in the case and is calling for transparency in the matter.
F1 statement –
“We draw attention to tonight’s official FIA statement, which was not communicated to us in advance. We believe this allegation is false and raises a potential conflict of interest. We have robust processes and procedures in place to ensure separation of information and responsibility in the event of an incident. We are confident that no member of our team has disclosed unauthorized information to a team leader, and We would like to caution you against making serious allegations inadvertently without substance.”
Mercedes statement –
“We take note of tonight’s FIA general statement on unsubstantiated allegations from a single media outlet and the confidential briefing linking it to the Mercedes-AMG F1 Team Principal.” The team received information from the FIA Compliance Department Ta. I had not received any communication regarding this issue and was very surprised to learn of the investigation through a media release. We completely reject the allegations of statements and related media coverage that unfairly undermine the integrity and compliance of our team leaders.
